Discover the Benefits of Pellet Therapy

With more than two decades of experience in implementing hormone therapies, I’m a huge advocate of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) with pellets. In fact, I consider pellet therapy to be the gold standard in hormone treatment.
Pellet therapy is a quick and simple in-office procedure in which BHRT pellets—about the size of a grain of rice—are inserted under the skin of the buttocks. The patient’s body then absorbs small, steady physiologic hormone doses directly into the bloodstream for 3 to 4 months.
When describing the benefits of pellet therapy to my patients, I often tell them pellets are like color television versus the black-and-white TV of other hormone therapies. That’s because these long-lasting pellets provide optimal therapy and wellness, while offering the most effective relief of symptoms of any hormone therapy.
Pellets are the most natural way to deliver hormones into the body because the body itself is, to some extent, controlling their release. Patients will get more of the hormone whenever their heart rate increases, and less when they’re resting or sleeping. The brain also controls the release, pulling hormones into the bloodstream faster if it senses a deficiency.
Unlike with other formulations, hormone levels don’t spike with pellets—with the proper dose, patients’ levels can remain in the normal therapeutic range for 3 to 4 months. What’s more, there are no “first pass” complications and increased clotting factors as with oral medications, and compliance is improved since there are no daily creams or pills to remember.
