Thyroid Replacement Therapy

August 9, 2022

By: Rachel Noonan, PharmD

Based on a recent survey conducted in over 27 pharmacies across the country, thyroid conditions are the third most prescribed indication for compounded medications. The most common reason patients sought a compounded prescription of any kind was failure of their previous therapy. This previous medication either failed to provide symptom relief or caused significant side effects. Nearly half of the patients surveyed, started therapy with a traditional product before switching to a compounded option.

Once a relationship blossomed with a compounding facility, the study suggests high patient satisfaction levels. Receiving quality customer service and accessible care makes an impact.

But the greatest deciding factor is you. Your recommendation matters. As a prescriber, the therapies you promote and the pharmacies you choose determine your patient’s next steps.

If you are a prescriber, we have created a document of frequently asked thyroid prescriber questions. You can download the sheet by clicking the button below.
